OT/ Update, New idea 324 corn picker pictures

Okay, the other 3 bolts came right out of the gearbox so that was not a problem getting off. After looking at the mounting plate I realized that it had broken welds but could be pulled back in place with clamps

this is what it looked like after gearbox removed

then this is what it looked like with the clamps on it and the broken welds shined up with a wire brush

then after a day of welding, the mounting plate was an easy weld, the vertical brace which had been previously welded too cold was covered with weld boogers and had about a 1/4" gap to fill was a different story but it finally came out to look like this, one both sides

so now I'm ready to extract the one broken bolt and put it back together.

I see that you have two nice beads down each side of the weld now to finish it add a third bead right down the center between each of the other two. That will greatly strengthen your weld. walt

I agree with Walt, I was told years ago that several small overlapping beads were stronger than 1 large bead. Chris
