Nuffield Tractors There are several photos in the photo galleries at the left of this page. Note the front bumpers on both brands.

Leyland or British Leyand tractors evolved from the Nuffield line after the Leyland Company bought the Nuffield Company in the late 1960's.Then the Leyland line was bought by Marshall and Sons in the early 1980's.The only thing the Leyands had in common with a Ford tractor was a blue and white paint scheme.Nothing else about the tractors were anything like a Ford.

Anyone know what a 1967 Nuffield 3/45 which runs, but has a bad clutch might bring here in the US?

As ar as I remember, Layland tractors are British and were Nuffield tractors before being bought out. Just like British cars of that era, you have to keep an eye on wiring and fuel systems.

the more i think about it, the real late nuffield had the same styling as leyland (two headlights mounted in the front panelling) they did go to a blue and silver grey colour scheme, so i guess it could be listed as ford if they dont know much about them.

the 344 means 3.4 litres and 4 cylinders, they also made a 384 at the same time.3.8 litres and 4 cylinder. I think the first ones were made around 1969 or 1970

the closest i can find for you jim is a leyland 285 or 245. thes were made in 1980. the 285 has 85hp 3pl lift of 2735kg, 9 speed gbox 540/1000 pto. the 245 has 9 spd gr box 47 hp, lift of 1700kgs and 540 pto. theres a 272 as well, 72 hp, 1815kg lift, 540 pto and made by british leyland truck and bus division ltd, bathgate, west lothian, scotland. i think these are the last of them made but not sure. hope it helps you anyway.
