I have a couple of trailer hitches I just unearthed in the previously mentioned house cleaning. I was hoping you all might take a look at them and see if you ever saw the like. Once again, trying to decide on finding them a new home or sending them for scrap. This first one looks for all the world like it hung on the bumper of a car! This pic is from the back side. You can see the ball on the far side.

If there were two just alike they may have been for a little 1 wheel trailer. My Dad had 1 on a 1962 Ford Falcon that he used to haul pigs to the sale barn with, 5 fat hogs at a time before he bought a 1961 short bed Chevy pickup, so he could haul 8 at a time in the pickup and 5 in the trailer, he was in his 80's and "needed something to do".Went to the sale barn every wednesday and said " I might as well make it pay"....James

Unless one of you fellas has a burnin itch to bolt one of these puppies on your newly re-chromed classic car bumper and start hauling around town....I guess I will scrap these. There are two of them. I'll save the balls, u-bolts and anything else that looks like I might reuse it and away with the rest. Some of the bigger parts might give their all in the stripping tank.
Appreciate the responses! Just found a box of trailer tongues. I'll see if I can get these all in one shot and put them up. A couple are pretty old. I have to redo the tongue on my small trailer and would like an opinion or two on which would be best. That's tomorrow....

Your right ...it hung on a bumper...the bumper back in the 60's were a little stronger ...wouldn't dare do it today... I did do it back then...pulled a SMALL trailer... Mark

It did (for all the world) hang on the bumper of a car. Back when men were men, and bumpers were bumpers (not some plastic lash-up). You just clamped that sucker on the back bumper of your '37 Terraplane, hooked up the trailer, and away you go. "Loan leveler hitch? We don't need no stinkin' load leveler hitch."
