OT- Gas Clothes dryer problem

Old Whirlpool gas dryer: Controls are a dryness/cycle selection knob, and a start button. All of a sudden the other day, it started starting without the use of the pushbutton. All you have to do is turn the dryness/cycle switch from off to somewhere in the cycle, and it starts running. No need for start button. Been a while since I had this problem, and have forgotten how to correct. Any ideas?

Likely, the appropriate switch in the "stack" of centrifugally-operated switches at the back of the motor has stuck "closed", bypassing the "start" button.

Thanks, Bob. Pulled the wiring diagram, and the switch is momentary contact, and then it looks like a centrifugal switch in the motor takes over. All this does is run the motor, other circuits controlled by timer. Guess I should take motor off and clean it up - almost a new motor...
