I was wondering what people think of I.R. selling their line of Bobcat Loaders off to Doosan Infracore ? Doosan is a Korean based company .They are susposed to take over at the end of October.

Yes it was the Kellers from Rothsay that invented it. They sold it to Melroe. I'm from Rothsay.

Mile marker 38. Giant prairie chicken on the corner. I've stopped to take the leak there many times.

I knew the founders of Bobcat.

An American dream sold to the Koreans.

Selling out our country one item at a time.

Yessir!!

I went to Les Melroes housewarming party in the early 70's. Just your typical housewarming get together with a ferris wheel and other rides set up in the front yard.

I dont remember the mans name but less sound a little bit familiar.
I would hang out at the good year store that my brother inlaw managed at Wahpeton and this crazy melrow guy would stop in to bs with his hired men and or friends and what a blast it was when he showed up. Would have been 1970 or so
I think he farmed in the wahpeton area but not sure.
So what ever happened to him? Is he still down there?

As I recall, Les headed for Colorado when things were going downhill at the plant. Those boys had a great idea but they partied like there was no tomorrow.

And his brother Cliff lives/ lived up by Harwood in the later years. I used to talk to him every August at Bonanzaville but I haven't been there in about 10 years so I don't know if he's still around. Interesting guy.

My Dad knew all of them as he did a lot of work in Gwinner when things were taking off. I did a lot of work at the plant over the years. Last time was when the huge propane tank was overfilled and it exploded. Must have been earlier 90's or so.

I know some people in the corporate office so I knew about this deal some time ago. Pisssses me off.

But the inventor was..... ..... .? Brothers Welding shop in Rothsay, MN, who came up with the idea so (Eddie Velo?) could clean out his upper story turkey barn. My BIL worked there some years later, and somewhere I have a 25th anniversary edition of the Bobcat magazine with details and pix of the first one, with the 'crazy wheel'. Fantastic what that concept turned into.

I wonder what the liabilty insurance was like back then. people were always tipping them over or getting crushed between the loader and a wall as they were notorious for "creeping".

The first one i used was a 610. Quite an improvement for the day but quite a piece of junk by todays standards. They made you seasick the way they bounced and jerked.

To answer your question, it was the kellers

A few years ago, Farm-Rite, in Dassel, had two of the Model 200 machines out front. Believe that was the first 4 wheel machine.

Grizz,I thought the Kellers were the ones too.
One of my cousins married one of the boys,he still runs their shop making folding shed doors.
They only live about 2 miles from here.
