Just heard a new song on the radio by these guys for the first time. I didn't hear the the name of it and I can't say all the lyrics but I loved it. I know I'm probably butchering the lyrics but it starts out about the neighbor not liking his barn or the tractor in the yard, etc. Then it goes on to say basically 'I was here first and if you don't like me or my way of life then I don't give a dang what you have to say about it'..so.. 'what do you have to say about that?' Finally a song that truely states how I, and I feel sure many others, feel about things. It's my property, I was here first. I didn't force you to move here, and if you don't like it things like they are, tough, MOVE. As long as I'm not hurting anybody, leave me the he-- alone and let me live my life my way. You gotta love the new country songs.

I love country, and I know that song, can play it on the guitar. Goes something like:

Heard it through the crick that my new neighbor dont like my big red barn
47 ford, bullet holes in a door
broke down moters over in the front yard

I gotta have a mind to paint a plywood sign
nail it up on a mighty pine tree
sayin this is my peice uh dirt
I was hear first (or vice versa)
yer ramblin dont rattle me

Some people care bout what other people think
worry bout what they say
dont let a little gossip comin from a loose lip
ruin our perfact day
Just jackin their jaws
gotta let it roll off like that (?)

Wear what I want to overalls work boots
crank my music up loud
what do ya think about that
Like to sling a little mud in my four wheel drive
treckin on in to town

shoot a little 8ball
down at the pool hall
drink a beer with my friends
Now dont judge me and i wont judge you
cuz we all get judged in the end

Some people care about what other people think
worry about what they say
dont let a little gossip comin from a loose lip
ruin our perfact day
Gotta let it rool off like that
Cuz I dont give a dern what other people think what do ya think about that?????

I said I dont give a damn what other people think, what do ya think about that
what do ya think about that

This expresses my thoughts exactly. If some one doesn't want to hear my tractor,or chainsaws run, or me doing some target practice, then stay the H#LL away. I'm fortunate to live in the country, so it really hasn't been much of a problem as yet. I wouldn't take real kindly to some northerner from the city buying up a postage stamp size lot near me and then have the balz to come on my property a britchin' to me. I'd tell them to go back where they came from at the very least and if I was in a good mood.

Right there with y'all. I am usually quiet and reserved and grew up in a sheltered 128 acre environment. But one Saturday morning, I was demonstrating to my brother the ability to project potatoes a very very long distance and at high velocity in my new semi rural environment. I was also showing him that it is possible to make a potato disappear into a moist puff when aimed directly at a tree within 15 yards. Anyhow, on about shot number 4, I looked behind me to see two attourneys, two realtors and the prospective homebuyers of the house across the road looking over the rise.

The alleged potato chucker was gone within hours, and the folks did buy the house. So I guess I did not scare 'em off. Turned out to be pretty good neighbors after all. However now my brothers neighbor is rather confused at how his hay field keeps growing potatoes.

Gonna hafta answer for this eventually...

Can't wait to hear that song, though.

Aaron

I'm not a big new country fan any more, but that's one of the few songs I can tolerate. If you like that one, you might like International Harvester by Craig Morgan. Beats the heck outta some long-haired Australian pretty boy singing about how he wants to cry tonight.

Yeah, that is a good song. It's called "What do ya think about that"

That's what I've always said too. I was out makin noise with tractors, dirt bikes, and 3 wheelers when the neighbors were looking at buying the place next door. So they knew what they would be in for. Screw em. Doug N

Yeah, I've got new neighbors who are out half the night drinking and riding dirt bikes around their property on jumps they built. I just make sure I'm up real early the next day running the tractor

I would be inclined to think if they are drinking and jumping dirt bikes in time the problem will solve itself. Of course they may end up drinking and trying to jump their electric wheel chair when the get out of the hospital. Some people are slow learners.
