I know this is far fetched but it is worth a shot in my eyes. My Grandpa passed away when I was in 6th grade. He collected antique tractors. All John Deere except for one. All the other tractors were passed out to the grandkids except this one tractor. I of course was too young at the time to buy it or to convince anyone to keep it. It was a 1950 Farmall C Demonstrator. That was the last tractor my Grandpa restored before he passed away. It was sold to a local man in Iowa and then shortly there after sold to a lady in Tennessee who owned a museum or was somehow involved with a museum. It was very nicely restored and painted white since it was a demonstrator. The serial number for this tractor is FC51333 (1815). It was sold sometime in late 1999 or early 2000. Any information at all about the whereabouts of this tractor or any leads at all would be appreciated. I know I may never find the tractor again but I cannot help but try to find it.

I have had a similar situation. I bought a 1940 John Deere H from an older gentleman. Several years after I bought it, his son called me. He didn't know his dad had sold it, and didn't know me. He came and looked at it and asked if it was for sale. I told him no, but if he were to get me the same model I would trade so he could have his Dad's. I really felt he should have his Dad's tractor, and thought I was fair in my offer. That was several years ago, and he hasn't called back. Perhaps a similar offer could be made here.

I sure hope you guys can work out a deal to get that tractor back. Cecil it is up to you but it would be very nice if this guy could reunite with his Gpa"s tractor. I"m thinking he is a young guy to so it is even better to get the young guy"s into the hobby.

Would be a very nice gesture if you would sell it back to this man. I know if I was in that position I sure would appreciate it. I am very lucky to still have all the 3 tractors my grandpa had and farmed with. 2 were bought new. They mean a lot to me, and even though they are not much for farming with by today's standard, they will never be for sale at any price, for any reason.

Take it easy on Cecil you guys! After all , it was a 70th birthday gift to him from probably someone pretty close to his heart also! There might well be quite a story behind it on Cecils side too! I think that at age 74 now, Cecil should keep the tractor for the years he has left and then if his family wants to or he wants to will the tractor back to the young man wanting it , then that would make everybody happy. What do you think , Cecil? We don't always want to think about our leaving but to know where the tractor was going after you are gone would be , at least to me , a real warm feeling. The tractor has quite a story allready , think of the complete story/history it would have then!!

Cecil you know the crazy thing about this my grandpas name was Cecil. I in no way want to make you feel bad or in any way ruin your experience with the tractor. I am so glad you responded. I am just glad to know where it is and in good hands. Sorry I didn't get back to you quicker. I am sure you have had an experience with a tractor just like that.

I might start by calling museums and historical societies in Tennessee and asking if they know of any white tractors. There weren't too many white tractors made as you know. Do you have the name of the first fella that bought it? Maybe he has the name of the lady that bought it from him. Also, check the serial number registry on the left of the page. I wonder where my grandpa's Ollies and my uncle's equipment ended up. I wish you the best of luck!
