Folks,

Does anybody know of a book/publication that lists and shows all the different factory implements made for the SA-140 tractor(s)?

I'd like to know what all was made available for these machines. We commonly see the various plows and cultivators/side dressers etc., but I am sure there were specialty implements made for certain crops that are not commonly seen.

I have an old book (713 pages) that lists all the implements and parts for them, for a sa. Revised 9/1955, the index shows; bedders, cane tools, cultivators, (cotton, corn, bean, beet, vegetable), bean harvetsters, disk harrows, middlebusters,, 4 types mowers (sickle), peanut and bean machines, (diggers, shaker, peanut stack mover), planters, (cotton, corn, about 10 types for the sa), vegeatble planters (2 types), disk plow, harrow plow, moldboard plow, beet pullers, front and belly blade, fert units, and common units (parts). Book is titled farm implements for use with super a tractor. Dont know much about the newer 140 implements, interested though.

scott,

I assume this is a factory publication? I'd love to find a copy of it....just what the doctor ordered!

Yep, a Farmall pub. I got it off of ebay a while ago, seems I paid around $20.00 for it. Just keep your eyes open, they come around on occasion. Meanwhile, if you need any information I'd be glad to help.

Hi Mark, I seen an implement book on ebay for SA/140 implements. I know there was planters, blades, listers, middle busters, hillers, disk, mowers, plows, cultivator, carryall, field cultivator, spike tooth harrow and maybe more. Have seen several aftermarket implents to fit them as well. Bush hogs, tobacco setters, sprayers and so on. You might google binder books or look here on YT and find an implement manual, they are around.

George,

By and by, I'm gonna get down your way and see how well you use that dutch oven..LOL!

I figured there were implements made for specialty crops raised elsewhere in the country that we're not used to here in KY. Like maybe specialty vegetable implements for the fresh market...carrots, lettuce, onions, cole crops, etc. I often wondered if there are mechanical harvesters for root crops other than potatoes. Speaking of which, I'd love to have an old fashioned potato digger but you have go north to find them. By time you drive up there to haul one back, you'd have fortune tied up in fuel. But, it's fun to look at the pictures and see what they made!

Mark, You are right. I like looking at all those old brochures and manuals. I saw 2 504 Farmalls in Ohio with green bean pickers on them. Never seen one of those around here. Still been to hot for that oven, but won't be long.

George,

were those 504's with green bean pickers for sale?

I have come to the conclusion that produce is the way to make money on a small farm...but the labor is the killer. If a man can mechanize to a small degree....he can do it. I have always wanted a green bean picker...never seen one, but know they exist.

When fresh beans are going for $40 a bushel, you need to get them to the market and not waste time hand picking or hoping to find plenty of mexicans to work the fields.
