We have a tremendous number of cats in our area due to a lack of responsible owners. We are trying to adopt out rather than euthanizing. Is anyone in a area where these would be wanted?

Allan,

Nice Himalayan and Snowshoe. I had a snowshoe that lived for 18 years. I now have a three legged white long hair that’s 20 years old.

About the only good thing that happened when the
coyotes moved into this area is all the feral cats disappeared

I can't help you either, although I am nearby to an area nearly devoid of cats! It is an area along the Des Moines River. The reason for no or very few cats is that the area is heavily populated with bald eagles. There is a Hydro Dam in town, so the river doesn't freeze in the winter and there are literally dozens of them visible in any direction.

One of the Eagles favorite snacks is ---housecat! They are apparantly exactly the right size to make a tasty meal for the hungry birds!

Before anyone goes OOOHHH how terrible, remember---this is nature! Peta does not care!

Naw, can"t help.

Couple of years ago was doing some telephone work at a prison, and was outside by the sally port working on a 600 pair cable. The guards feed stray cats at that sally port, a million of them. I set my buttset down on the ground and went to the truck for something, came back, picked it up to use it, and put it by my face. Sniff, sniff, sniff. God *@#$ cat marked it. Guess they (it) knew I"m not the world"s largest cat fan and got even...that time.

We lived near a ravine where "kind and compassionate" city dwellers came to drop off their cats they couldn't give away at the grocery store.

These cats formed quite a pride of feral cats back in the early 80's. That was when rabies started from northern VA and crossed into DC via raccoons. Problem was it was a strain that could infect cats.

We tried everything to trap them but nothing worked. In the end we had to drop them with a well placed .22

Never liked it but we all had small children to think about.

Wanna take a stab at what management just paid fer this little feller? I mean, after the air fare from Idaho, of course.

No, not counting a 200 mile road trip to the nearest airport to meet the silly plane. :>(

Yeah, I created my own he!! and I need a drink! :>)

Oh, for sure.

I get the same lecture around here.

What worries me is that this isn't the first time this has happened. If it doesn't have the mittens on the feet, it's not a good enough cat. :>(

Groan!

We seem to stay pretty constant, despite the ma cats best efforts. Last thursday,we kind of noticed a half grown kitten wasn't around, but the other 3 from the litter were. About 5pm,the wife was ready to go get groceries. I pulled out the driveway and went about 100ft. Thump, one of those three was up under the truck and jumped out under the wheel. Too late for him,I kept going. We got about 8 miles and I saw another one go skidding down the road behind us. He DARNED near got hit. I went back after him. He was battered and bleeding, but I put him in the truck. He's doing OK,but we're down to 2 out of the 4 now. Nature seems to keep 'em under control.

We live in the boonies and people from town bring them out and toss them out. The coyotes love 'em.
