I have a farmall H and I have removed the head for a cleaning .I am trying to figure out if the cam is worn. When I turn over the engine the push rods only very by 1/16 of an inch. Is that normal? Any other suggestions? Thanks,Peter

Can you shine a light in the block to see if the cam lobes are worn. Did the engine run ok before removing the head? Hal

Yes it ran ok but when I would pull a heavy load it would run out of power real fast when other H's would keep pulling. My rpm's are good and my govenor has already been rebuilt. Thanks

While you have the head off check what kind of pistons are in there, and find out what pistons are in those other hs. My H has firecraters and it outpulls the tires easily. Justin webbers IH parts site has compression PSI data for different pistons in the tune up spec section.

My IH manual doesn't give the cam lobe height. Have you opened the main jet adjusting screw near the bottom of the carburetor? This will enrich
your fuel mixture under heavy loads. Hal
