I was running around this evening trying to get my tractor ready for a mowing job tomorrow. I grabbed the wrong can and put about 1 qt. maybe a little more of gas in my diesel tank, before I realized what I was doing. Should I drain it out, or leave it? I can fill the tank which will have about 10 gal diesel. with the gas I accidently added. Too dark now so will continue tomorrow. What do you think? Stan

No problem. In fact, General Motors/Chevy used to allow a certain amount of gasoline to be used in "emergency" situations in their diesel pickup trucks. It's in the 1978 owner's manuals.

if you are worried about lube problems add 2 quarts of non detergent oil to a can of fuel and mix well this should take care of any problems that may arise from the gas .

No big deal, I've put 1/2 gallon of gas in 15 gallons of diesel in my 310A backhoe all winter long for the past 28 winters. No problems so far.

I would add the rest of the diesel you have and then run it. Years ago before they had the fancy stuff for diesel to keep it from gelling they used gas in them so you should be just fine

Should be fine. I wouldn't add Standyne or PS. Bio-diesel has been shown to be a far better lubricant that either of those. 2% provides about 1/2 the wear as compared to using Stanadyne or PS. If you don't have Bio available, mix in 2 cycle oil to a ratio of 100:1 to 200:1. The study I saw was for 200:1 ratio and wear reduction was nearly as good as 2% bio (about 50% better than stanadyne or PS.)

The study is here and is from dieselplace. A good read and worth the 15 min.

Don't worry about it. To be extra safe, add a little diesel lubricity additive, such as Standyne or Power Service.

I would not be afaid to run at all . VW rabbit desiel said to put one gallon of gas to ten gallon of diesel to prevent jelling in cold weather .
