I would like to know how many of these Hesston 310 self propelled windrowers were made. I know it is a 1968 model. I saw an old thread when I was doing some research before I bought it where a guy said he only knew of about six of them in Mass. (where I bought this one) Does anyone know where to find serial numbers for production like you can for tractors? I am currently using it for hay but it will hopefully be replaced in a year or two by a more modern implement. Hopefully I can get this fully refurbished (not restored for you sticklers!) to preserve it.

If there are only 6 in Mass then I've got three of 'em. The one I'm running (a '67), the one I quit running nine years ago, and a parts machine. Mine are all 110s. They do take a lot of maintenance. There are 7 vee belts and to replace all but one of them involves removing shafts or cross-members. But once you mow with one you never want to go back to a sicklebar. Can mow all afternoon without ever getting off. Even through windrows already mowed.

Hesston also made these same machines for J.I.Case , painted Case colors and likely with some options and slight differences. In this part of the world, there are far more of the Case version than the Hesston.

We had a Case. I don't think there was any difference at all except paint. It was kind of a troublesome machine.
