I have just acquired a MF 65 S/N 526798
According to a list I found www.fofh.co.uk/tech/dates.htm
this puts it about mid 1960. The list also says that the MK II model with the AD4.203 engine was introduced in 1960.
How do I tell if I have a late MK I or a new MK II?

I can not see anything on the engine to give a clue. Is there some features of the tractor, or engine appearance that I can use as a guide?

In the US there were different hood ornaments for the MkI and MkII, although I can't recall when the break was. The MkI had an oblong hole in the front of the hood with an "airplane" hood ornament over it. The MF logo was below that and completely separate. The MkII had a larger opening with a mesh screen over it and the MF was incorporated into this. No more airplane. Another way I could always tell was the clutch pedal linkage was completely different (and much shorter) on the MkII tractors.

I had never heard of the Mark I and Mark II designation until I got on this site. I think it only applies to UK tractors. Try paging David P. South Wales. He can probably answer your question.
