Yesterday a local farmer was going down the hi-way on his JD tractor and a pickup passed him and cut back to quick and hit the tractor causing it to flip and crushed the 41 year old farmer. This man was an aquaintence of mine, he leaves behind three children. They all lived with him as he and his wife were devorced. What a tragedy that didn"t need to happen. Careless drivers cause lots of heartake. Keep this mans family in your prayers.

We hear about a lot of things on that order, but we also don't want to forget about the guys that are also creating problems with machinery. About 3 weeks ago I followed a guy pulling a small baler at 25 mph behind his pick up on a rural blacktop road with no shoulders. Too crooked and hilly to pass, and several cars were behind him. he went this way for over 15 miles, even though there were several paved intersections with room enough he could pull over and let traffic pass, but he just stayed there riding the center line. ON through a small town with lots of open parking lots, and finally turned off a couple miles beyond. A little courtesy on his part would have helped many people.

Hi Gary,

Sorry to hear of this. Did it happen on Hwy 84? It seems that there has been some interesting drivers on the road the past few months. Last May, on my way to Clovis there was a guy that decided to cut accross the hiway. Let's just say his timing could've been better, and that it's probably a good thing that I was watching what he was doing because he cut onto the hiway in front of me.

Yes it was on 84, just west of Progress at the turn off just before the pallet place. I have not got a real clear story of exactly how this happened other than the guy in pickup cut back in to soon. What the hurry was on a four lane highway I have yet to figure out.

Just last week Micky Lunsford at Farwell was killed because a car lift in his garage malfunctioned and drop a car on him. He and his brother run the garage and junk yard on the east side of town. Seems people are dieing younger and younger all the time.

Look, these people just dont care. Taking 3 seconds to slow down and pass right is just too much to ask. I ride my bike 3 miles or so to school, and every day some @$$#0!& flies around me, and goes around a sharp corner at 50mph. There was almost an accident that way last fall, some idiot flew by me and, well in the other lane, another car comes around the corner at full speed. Theyt both Slam on the brakes, and swerved. You could here them screaming at eachother, then they just take off. Its a wonder noones gotten hurt thatway. Thats basicially the only real curve on my route, and the most dangerous 100' lenght of the trip.

Get a few buckets of pea gravel and put them on the curve. That'll fix the guy.

I see that stupidity every day right in front of my house. There is a rise in the road and every day and night young fellas are playing Dukes of Hazard getting air over the hump. It's a miracle it doesn't happen more often.

Gary, that is a tragedy. Folks don't care anymore it seems. I have been about half afraid to be on the road for the last 10 years or so. Had many knotheads do me the same way. I will have the family in my thoughts and prayers.

Our deepest sympathy for something so senseless. Drivers like that are the major reason that I'm so gleeful about the total colapse of the economy in Michigan. Every person that leaves this state is one more stupid a##hole off the rural roads. Take care of those three kids.
