I have stock wheels on my 48 Farmall M, I want to put on 15.5 tires, so what size rim is needed?

Just finishing a major overhaul on same tractors engine, what grade oil should I use.I live in Ohio where I'll only use tractor in warmer weather, I figured a detergent oil will work.

Thanks, Tractor Todd

Use a good brand of detergent oil and you will never have to look back again. As far as rim if you want to go with a 15.5 you need a rim that is at least 14 inches wide for it to sit right on the rim. Ya you can use a 13 inch one but then you have an odd looking tire

Well, the fellas over at the IH board can advise you on whether or not to use detergent or non-detergent and have opinions on that. As far as tire size goes, I'm thinking that I'd stick with the stock rims and maybe go to the Goodyear, Firestone, or...websites and let their AG guys advise you as to what they have to offer that will fit your rims, which are probably just what Dr. Red prescribes. Guess you oughta be thinking about what you're going to be doing with the tractor, and what it "will" do for you in the first place. Whatever you decide to do, the rims gotta be mountable, the tires have to fit the rims, and the tractor and the setup sure had better play nice together. Just my 2 cents worth.
