The tachometer has a bushing in the drive end that never gets oiled. When my cable got noisy it wasnt the cables fault.I took the meter out and put one drop of Military LSA gun oil on the bushing and the noise and needle jumping stopped.Ive had car speedometers that were stuck tight, that broke the cable if the car was moved after sitting idle for a long time.

I had trouble with the pin that runs the cable on my 1850 Oliver breaking because the cable was turning too hard in cold weather. I poured a little automatic transmission fluid down in to it. Problem solved.

Right or wrong ? I have did several with neverseze. I just brush it on as I feed the cable in. Just enough to cover the cable good.

Almost everytime I have to work on a tach cable it's ussually full of engine oil- so I'd say dump a little oil down it and call it good. Eventually oil will get past the drive and lube the shaft that way.

Speedometer cable lube or regular grease gun grease. Put a gob of it in the palm of your hand, and then drag the cable through it as you feed it into the cable housing. Don't be stingy with the lube.
