OT Digital Camera Question

I have a Finepix 360 camera and it has a feature to take movies instead of still photos. Sunday I made movies of Grandson climbing onto tractor and lawn mower and babbling away. Tried to download onto computer and they came up as a color blur. Took the card to Walgreens and to HyVee to see if they could transfer it to disc, but they said their equipment would'nt work for that either. Is there any way to save them without getting a new card and leaving movies on that card? Why would the feature be on the camera if you can't get them off? I'd like to save it, but how or where do I have to go to get it done? Camera store? Computer store? Any help appreciated, Chris

Do they show up as files on a removable disk drive when you plug your camera into your PC??

If so, be sure and make a copy of them to the PC first.

Is this the first time you've ever done it? Or has it worked OK in the past?

Then depending on the file type (.mpg, .avi, .mov, etc), there should be many different players that should play them. Windows Media player, Realjukebox, etc...

Some cameras store data in a proprietary format - meaning you'll need software specifically from the camera manufacturer, but that is rare.

I'm mainly familiar with Nikon and Kodak, so I can't speak to your brand...

Good luck,
Howard

Have you tried popping the memory card into a memeory card reader attached to a 'puter with Window XP or Vista? Those later versions have more "player" options built in, and I would THINK there would be one that would work with whatever video "codec' is used by your camera.

They will come off. The process involves the software that came with the camera (or a download of that from the manufacturer) and the procedure in the manual (also on line) It makes nice short videos. Setting the camera to the correct resolution, and getting things in order takes a few experiments. JimN
