Shovelman is right on, I have had to do that to two of our tractors. a 424 and a 460. A little weld on the end and then ground down and she works like new again

Remove the shift lever and realign the shift rails with a big screwdriver.

The pivot pin that holds the shift lever in place is retained with 2 disc type expansion plugs, which I beleive are 5/8".

Many times the end of the shift lever is worn, allowing it to slip between the rails, causing the problem. We build them up with a little weld if needed.

Good luck,
Scott
