So, is the ta soppose to slow the tractor down or speed it up, in other words is the ta working when the lever is pushed forward or when it is pulled back. I was told different things by different people so I don't know what is true?
Thanks for the help again!

DO NOT USE TA JUST TO SLOW down the tractor. This is to be used only in tough conditions with a pull on the tractor. Plowing, disking, cultivating and so on. With TA engaged(lever back) It free wheels going over hill and does damage the rollers and ramp in the unit itself. Anytime the tractor is overunning the TA it is causing some damage. Brakes are for slowing, TA is for pulling consistant load. Lever foward is direct drive. Lever back engages the TA for tough pulling. When changing from DD to TA do it quick from one to another. If used properly they last for years. They must be adjusted exactly by the book or damage may occur. When out of adjustment it is uaually hard to get the tractor in and out of gear. If right the tractor should hold itself on a hill in DD with the clutch pushed in enough to disengage the main clutch. For example pushed 1/2 to 3/4 down it should hold. Pushed all the way down it should let it roll.

Never us the TA on hills, could be quite dangerous. It takes away your clutch. Never use it only when you have to. Never engage the TA while traveling down a hill, because you could easily tear it out.I used mine when plowing and once in a while ,bush hoging in heavy grass. The TA cuts the speed of the tractor in about half and keeps the same rpm's on your PTO.They're handy when you need them. The reacon so many are out is people use these in tractor pulls and thats hard on them, plus the tractor.

Lever ahead the TA is in direct drive(not engaged) Lever back TA is engaged, motion slows, and your able to power thru the tough spot in the field. Normal running, lever ahead, need some exta power lever back.
