hitachi alt. help!!!!!!!

im rewiring my farmall 450 and putting a hitachi alt napa #213-8130. on the back of the alt there are 4 conections one has bat,one has E, the othe 2 are resest and are spade termenals, marked S and L. how do i hook up or use the conections marked E,S and L?

I believe the connections are light, sense and excite, but call your local alternator shop to be sure. Light should be open during normal operation and ground out when the alternator is not charging. It can be left unhooked. You should only need to attach the batt and excite to make it charge. Sense wire might need to be jumped to the excite, but I am not sure if this is necessary. Call your local shop, they can tell you for certain.

If you can get a gm one wire alternator go that route. I don't know if you got the hitachi one from work or ? but it might be easier to get a different one.
