I was blading yesterday and started up a hill when I heard grinding gears. I stopped and the noise stopped, engine never missed a beat. I started back to the shop, no weird noises, or engine problems...but noticed NO oil pressure.

Does this sound like the oil pump failed...or ???

Any thoughts???

The oil pickup tube probably broke off of the oil pump, and got pulverized by crankshaft/rotating assembly, and is laying in pieces in the bottom of the oil pan. Remove the BIG drain plug/screen assembly and the tube SHOULD be visible centered over the the hole, IF still in place.

If that's the case, the pan has to come down. The oil pickup tube is soldered into the oil pump cover, so if the tube got mangled, you'll have to find a cover/tube assembly.
