I see more people driving Hummers around here and was wondering how expensive are they, what engines do they have and what do they get for mileage? Thanks!!

Anything but the H1 is total overpriced junk. The H3 is about the dumbest vehicle ever made. I never really thought of them as a replacement for the Jeep. It's just too big to go places a Jeep will go. If you're thinking about an H3, just buy a Chevy Colorado 4 door, it's the same vehicle underneath but without all the weight.

That is the sound of the gas tank. Check the mileage, not just the false advertized sticker MPG. Ask around and see what the Real mileage is. You would hate to get one and find out that it will cost you twice as much for fuel.

Worthless POS!! The military ones go anywhere but they are underpowered and uncomfortable and have blind spots like no other. The Civilian H1 is a waste, only seats 4. If you want an off road machine, get a Jeep Rubicon,4 dr. hauls about as much as an H1. Comes set up from the factory for rock crawling. Or if you need more hauling capacity, get the 4 dr. pickup of your choice, outfit it for serious offroad and you can take 2 more people and 3x as much cargo than an H1 and still have money for a two week camping trip to your favorite getaway. H2 and 3 are not worth mentioning.

Got a lot of doctors in this area that have Hummers. Funny thing is they go out of their way to keep them in prestine condition. Just what I would want to do with a truck. I'll stick with my old F-150 flatbed. I get into something or somebody gets into me and it's a trip to the junkyard for a few replacement parts. A Hummer is just an egotistical way to say 'I got more money than good common sense'. Enjoy the 12 MPG though diesel is down to $2.95 a gallon here today.

Retail is close to $80k for an H1. Only true off road capable of the three but the H2 is rather capable. Most all H1's have the GM 6.5L diesel and most are turboed. I guess milage to be at 12-14 maybe. There were a few with the 6.6L Duramax/ Isuzu. And I beleive a few early ones had the 6.2L GM diesel. I can tell you they are nearly impossible to get stuck! Step dad worked at the Chippewa Testing Grounds so I got a bit of info.

The H1 was the only true Hummer.

The H2 is on a Chevy Blazer/Tahoe chassis with minor modifications.

The H3 is on a Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon chassis with minor modifications.

Don't waste your money...

Listen bud, if you want to be fancy and rich, don't buy a piece of crap like a hummer. Spend it on a porsche or anything else like that. A GM-built Hummer is NOTHING like the original H1. ALL it is is a hummer body on a chevy 3/4 ton frame and engine.

They're just a real expensive chevy pickup!

I think you misunderstood my question. I don't want to buy a Hummer, I just had some questions about them because I see more and more of them on the road around here.
