Good afternoon every body, I am new to posting messages on this site, but, have read quite a bit of your posts when I was looking for the right tractor around my small farm. Anyways, the question is this, I ended up buying a 1974 Massey-Ferguson 135 gas with power steering. I brought it home and found that the power steering only works when your turning right. It had sat for awhile so I used the loader to raise the front end in the air and tried to bleed all air bubbles out by filling the steering pump with fluid and working the steering back and forth. It turns great up in the air obviously but when I set it back down, same problem. Are there any MF mechanics or fans that have had this problem before, and how did you solve it? Any info would be a great help! I could probably track down the problem, but figured you guys might be able to take some of the guess work out of it for me. Thanks a ton.

Massey 135 has a fairly simple steering..

If you don't have a valve problem in the steering box, you may have a slider piece broken in the box..

Most times if it will turn to the right easily and hard to the left, if the slder piece is broken..

I have fixed 7 of these in the last two year..

You should ask on the Massey forum. There are several people who know these tractors intimately. Big Dean was an MF mechanic for 27 years and has a lot of info on his website. You could also look in the archives on the MF forum. Power steering on MF's has been a popular subject over the years. You'll find out what to check in very short order. Dave
