I have a 2002 2500 Hemi and I want to trade. The dealer is not intersted in the truck. Insulted me several times. It has 66000 miles orginal and I think it is worth more tham $9800. The truck is in really nice shape. Am I missing something here???
What do you all think??? Thanks for your replys.

They did not even make a Hemi 2500 Ram until the 03' model year. I just happen to be a car dealer, and know a lot of people think we make $5000 on every vehicle we sell, if that were the case I'd be retired all ready. Our average gross profit per unit used vehicle this year is running around $922.

The problem is most people are scared of the Hemi because of it's mileage and that makes it a hard sell. Now that brings us to the dealers, if they can sell you another truck and get yours at a LOW ( CROOKS ) price then they can sit on yours tell that right person comes along and buys yours at say, a $4000.00 to $5000.00 proffit. I have two Dodges, one diesel one gas and I could sell my diesel two or three times a week. My gas I couldn't give it away. I made the mistake of trading a real nice clean 97 F-250 in on my first diesel. I knew it would take the right buyer because of gas prices to sell it so like a FOOL I took the $6000.00 they offered me. It took little over three months but they sold it to a guy that lives about 12 mile from me and he should me the paper work. He paid $8600.00 for it on a weekend sale down from $9400.00. If at all possible sell it out right you will ALWAYS be better off. I'll let the trucks or whatever sit in the field and rust away beore I'll ever give a dealer another one. I would be willing to bet that if the dealer offered you $9800.00 it would sell to the right buyer for about $14000.00. Good Luck

I once had a 1500 swb 4X4 with all the buttons..Beautiful little Ram..Went back to dealer on the hook 3 times , plus 13 other instances..67,000 miles..I had ordered a new Silverado and was told about 6 weeks..I was going to sell the Ram myself in a couple of weeks..Well the salesman called at 3 weeks and said " Come get your new truck"..A mad dash to sell the Ram netted only $ 800.00 more than trading it in..Well better than nothing..The Dodge dealers offer was worse than the Chevy dealer on trade-in price..A couple of weeks extra would have netted more money..Oh well , my luck....

Not sure how yours is equiped, but I just traded off my 2001 Dodge 2500. It had 5.9 gas, ext. cab, 4X4, 55,000 miles and most options except leather seats. They gave me $13,000 as trade toward a 2005 Dodge dually, 4 door, diesel.

HE insulted YOU more than once and you sat there after the first time? He was probably ready to go home for the day when you showed up. Do you know how to tell when a car salesman is lying to you..... ..... when he opens his mouth!

Dealers Attitude is uncalled for: Run away as fast as you can and don't come back. Sadly his attitude towards your Truck is typical of all Auto dealers on a Trade. Your Truck has a Liability for resale as it is a "Gasser". A Diesel would make it worth around 12-13.5 K here in Az but not at a Dealers. I looked at a real sharp, with good tires etc. 2002, 3500 Dodge Dually,67K miles, Ext.Cab Wht and Blue Int. with 6 Speed 4 Whl Dr and all power for $15,500.00 just a week ago. Newspaper ads for same/same Trk. are around $19,500.00. This Truck is not at a Auto Dealer but a Misc Equip.and Tractor Dealer. You just have to look all around and you will do a deal that is good feeling. Stay away from those Parasite Auto Dealers. I hate them. Good Luck.

As I have told numerous people before, NEVER trade at the dealer! Sell it outright yourself. The dealer would never do something that would benefit you. Is the truck 4x4? If so, I would say it it's definately worth $10,000 if it is in really nice shape.

$10,000 the dealer offered $9800 for $200 I wouldn't walk across the street to ask someone else what they would pay. Sometimes its not what you get for your truck but what you get off of the one you are buying. Look at the whole picture and see what it all totals up to.
