I got back to the Springfield, Mo warehouse tonight at 9:15. Backed the wagon to the dock, stopped long enought for Dale and Chuck to each open a back door. They went into the building and I wrote down my milage, and miles on my trip meter. Then I shut off the lights and engine, put the keys in my pocket, got my clipboard, log book, and DVCR book. Then started climbing out of the cab always very careful when doing this, because I am old and don't bounce up easily any more when I fall. Well I don't know just what happened next except I missed the bottom step completly fell on my back knocking the wind out of me, and hurting like heck. I got enought wind to yell help, and Dale and Chuck came running back called 911, and I went to the ER on a back board and with a neck brace on dang those things are uncomfortable. Good news is no broken bones just badly brused ribs and hip. got home and took some of the chill pills they gave me a prescription for and right now I feel a little better. I was hurting too much to enjoy all the attention I was getting from the pretty girls that were working with me. I will get a one day at least unplained Vacation

Sorry to hear about your miship Jimmy. If you came to St. Johns I got called in to work and worked on a guy till 0600 that appeard to be faking a back injury to sue his employer. A fall like you had would disabled this dude for life I'm sure. He was in his early 20s so he wasn't nearly as tough as an ole Walnut Grove farm boy. I would have much preferred to had been working on you. But then you couldn't have been with the pretty ladies. Heck I'm not even a pretty man.
Good luck Jim,
Paul

Heck I was talking to my boss a while ago on the PH and I think he was trying to get me to say I would take Monday off too. I just told him I would call him Sunday night or Monday morning.

I have an old Elec-trak that uses three deep-cycle batteries that I charge with a 10amp charger and two trickle chargers, all of which are plugged into a power strip. I decided to switch the chargers, the 10amp charges the batteries, and then I put the trickelers on after it to hold the charge

anyway, I forgot to unplug the power strip, and anyway, the two wires touched on the trickle (wires were on the ground) and they caught some sawdust on fire and I stomped it out swearing like a marine who got his leg shot off, ahha good times!

It must be the week for doing not so smart things, Two days back I cut through an electric cord with some side cutters, only problem is I forgot to unplug the cord. Is this part of the golden years ?

Both of those mishaps are enough to make one cringe, glad the both of you escaped without serious injury, it don't take much.

Went to step onto the saddle tank step of an International 4300 truck, was delivering some 3'-0" dia. red oak logs to the owners father who was going to push them off the lowboy with a mid 60's Farmall diesel with a FEL, real nice tractor, the tank strap broke and I landed in the weeds right next to a pile of unfriendly cast iron or steel junk. Was thankful to have not landed on that pile or in the path of those logs he was going to push off.

Hi Jimmy,
Hope you make a speedy recovery.
Earlier this week I did the most stupid thing in the World. Set the alluminum ladder at low angle onto the beam in the garage roof. Climbed up with boxes to store in the rafters.
The bottom of the ladder slid backwards on the concrete and I came crashing down face first onto the floor. Yes it hurts ! Badly cut and bruised on hands, arms, legs & side of face, thankfully nothing broken. Beware ALWAYS use a ladder correctly.
David

Rule of thumb that I learned in a safety coarse on OHSA. A ladder is at a correct angle when you are standing on the ground with your feet at the base of the ladder, stretch your arm straight out and you should just be able to touch it with your finger tips.

Jimmy: Your getting too old to be doing tricks like that. I'll bet you didn't even bounce. I feel for you with those ribs. The good part is your mind is still good, or at least you were able to notice the young ladies.

Enjoy your day off.
