So how do you find a leak? I've been all over these damn things with a spray bottle and soapy water. Been holding 80 pounds for an hour. I go to the field I can't bale 3 bales before they are flat. WhatvIgottado? Take my sudzy water to the field and check with a bale in it?

I dunno. I'd probably keep adding air, play with the lines, open the gate, etc.
I've seen the truck bags corrode on their top plates against the frame.... bag was fine. Just the metal rotted away and the frame was all that held the air in.
I'd air it up for all the compressor's worth and see what happens. You gotta hear he air coming from somewhere.

I replaced the air bags a few years ago and now they hold air all winter long. Holds air all summer and maybe only add a bit all summer. They say that during the winter make sure you clean off the top of the air bags to keep the chaff from getting moisture and slowly rotting the top of the bag even though they are parked in a shed. The 855 are a better baler compared to the old ones with the bottom chains, sometimes hard to get a good bale started with the chains. I have had a bar come flying out of the top of the baler and land ahead of the tractor....that was scary, that happened when the chain was bad and a one end of the bar broke loose and the other end got caught and finally left go just as it was on top, acted like a sling shot. When I can, I will update to a belt baler. third party image

The inside of the air bag will move in and out during bale formation. Air is getting out as the
air bag inverts itself as it moves along the shaft(pipe). You will need a new bag. I replaced mine in about 1 1/2 hours. Mine failed and bent the pipe it slides on. Had to straighten it out. Installation not to bad. If I can do it, you can. Bag for the 848 is about $300. For everyone not familiar with the these models, the air bag is like those used on air ride semi trailers.

On my Vermeer I put 110psi in & the leak didn,t show up until I opened the gate clear up.Then it showed right up.Check where the air line goes into the back of the airbag.

Roll a roll in the field and then check it.To save yourself some time just go ahead and buy 2 new ones(dig deep in your pockets) and put them on.If 1 is leaking now it won't be long before the other one is.Been there, done that.Sure enjoyed the day that 853 went down the road.I can actually go to the field and roll hay instead of working on the baler.

Personally I'd forget about the chain type baler and get one that might retain a couple of leaves. Granted no round baler is good at keeping leaves.

Neighbor has a 855 and it's the same way. Doesn't leak air until there's a bale in it.
