I have a 600 workmaster ford. It will start right up and run about 15 minutes then starts to sputter and stops running. Then it will not start till it cools off and then starts right back up and does the same thing. I have cleaned the carburator and changed the coil. Also, has new points, plugs and condenser. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?? I need some help chasing this down?

Thanks,
Joey

Are you working it hard in those 15 minutes, or just running at any idle speed? As in, does more heat from harder work make it die off sooner, or doesn't that matter?

I can be riding around and it will cut off or bushoging. It really doesn't matter what I'm doing with the tractor it cuts off after about 15 minutes.

Just curious, has somebody put an automotive type inline gas filter in it? It's only supposed to have a sediment bowl. If it has on of those filters, they aren't made for a gravity flow system. Take it out and just hook the two lines together temporarily with a hose. If it fixes the problem, make a new copper line for it like it should have.

15 minutes is time to heat up a failing coil or condenser or to pull a vacuum in the gas tank because the cap isn't venting. Try loosening the cap.

Try a jumper across the ignition switch and see if that helps. If it doesn't try a hot wire from the battery to the coil. Also as soon as it dies check for spark that way you will know which way to look. If it has good spark then its a fuel problem no spark its ignition problems

you need to figgure out if its loosing spark or fuel. get an extra sparkplug and run the tractor till it conks out. pull a plug wire, stick the spare plug in the wire and lay it on the engine so it grounds, then crank it over , if it sparks, look for a fuel problem, possibly a blockage. you can try a quick shot of starting fluid (ether) if you have spark and see if she pops. that will get you started looking in the right direction.
