OT That Makes 5

Shot another skunk last night, that makes 5 so far this year. Neighbor across the road farrows sows in pasture and the skunks are living under the hog sheds and come over here at night and I shoot them. So far, none have sprayed, hope none do!! 20 guage with #6 shot in the head and they jut fall over dead. Chris

WOW! I've shot 2 skunks, both right through the head with a .22. Both times they dropped like rocks and both times after they'd laid there dead for a few minutes the stink started boiling out of them. The second time I was ready and just as he started to stink I had him in a plastic garbage back that quick as a wink went into a second garbage bag. Even then the smell hangs around for awhile. The guy at the dump gave me the hairy eyeball pulling in with that load...

You need to break the spinal chord to stop them from stinking. That means aiming for the top of the shoulder.

they also eat yellow jackets and any other kind of bee they can get hold of, including honeybees

On the positive side with Skunks is they eat mice, they say more than a cat. On the negative side, they do carry rabies, be careful when handling.
