I need to adjust rear drum brakes on this tractor. At least i hope that is all....how do i do it? Do I need to pull the wheels? I looked the drums over good from the inside and cannot find a plug or adjustment slot? This is a 4 cylender gasoline ford 4000..6 volt. I would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks Robert Harvey

These should be simplistic drum type brakes, there is a star wheel adjuster, pry open the the cover at the bottom of the backer plate and use an appropriate screw driver, I forget which way will expand the adjuster out. Might want to jack up the wheel and see if it's any help, also check the linkage from the pedals for any adjustment, probably not needed though.

A complete brake job on these is not that difficult, nor overly expensive, lots of parts out there, I even found new drums for mine at another supplier besides THIS OVERLY SENSORED YT MAG forum, because you cannot say the gol derned name of the friggin place on the forum due to the fact they do not want you buying from them even although it's part I don't think they carry !!!! (JUST E-MAIL ME & I WILL TELL YOU THE NAME OF THE SUPPLIER OF THIS PART as I really hate this censorship of mentioning the supplier pronounced Val-ew Bilt)always check to see if the axle seals are leaking, soaking the pads, if so best to replace the seal, little more complicated to do that, but not the end of the world either. I did a complete brake job on my 850 a few years ago, was relatively easy.
