Have seen lots of corn being sprayed by airplanes this year. What are they spraying and what are they trying to kill? Haven't got to ask anyone local or heard anything about what's going on. Thanks, Chris

Hey massey333, for $40 you should be getting the "Full Meal Deal" with Quadris and Warrior at the full rates plus a hug and kiss when you pay the bill.

super99, If you are in the High Plains, Texas,Okla, SW. Kansas.....probably Corn Borer or Mites, Aphids. No fertilizer by plane, Any extra fertilizer will go down over the top via the center-pivots.
Later,
John A.

Fungicide and maybe some Warrior or insecticide mostly for jap beetles cutting silks around here. Doesn't seem like there is too many of those around here this year luckily.

Central Illinois is being sprayed for "Grey leaf Spot" ,Japanese beetles , and or rootworm beetles.
I think a lot of this yr. corn has been sold ahead on the futures mkt.at a good price and the producers aren't going to take a chance on the above affecting yield .

Great observation/conclusion. With the corn price one could have got and many did, and the decent weather we have had, it is almost a no brainer. Seen data that showed a 10 to 40 bu/acre increase. Scheduled a fungicide flyover possibly combined with insecticide, for late next week since the corn just begining to tassel.

Morning

Over here by me they were foliar feeding with some wonder tonic type fertilizer.

I've heard some are putting on a fungicide on the second year corn to ward off any diseases to maximize yield for the higher corn prices.
