Hi everyone,
I just bought a 30 hp 1985 Kubota with live 2 speed PTO. I've been mowing for years with a 1943 JD B and tow behind mower and thought I would like the live PTO for a change. I bought a mower for it but it has not come in yet.
Tonight I noticed that the PTO will not stop turning when I dissengage the clutch. I'm hoping it's not the clutch but what else could it be? I adjsted it as per the manual and it seems to shift fine. Do I dare mow with it this way?
Any insight would be apreciated. Dan.

I adjusted the linkage so the pedal has the correct free play. I think thats all the adjusting that can be done to it. The linkage was welded at one time so it loses a little bit of "adjustability" but I don't think it's at that point yet. Maybe tho. Worst case would be what Paul said and I guess that would require a tractor split. I was just wondering if it was something easy to troubleshoot. I'll run it like this awhile if I can and tackle that when I get my "must have" projects done.
Thanks guys. Dan.

If it has indepedent PTO the clutch will not do a thing to it. If it has a 2 stage clutch ya it should, but with out a load on it, it still may spin. My Olivers have live PTO and they spin with out a load on them because of the oil in the system. Hook up a load and they stop spinning unless you put the PTO in gear

True live pto has nothing to do with the clutch,it will only stop when you take the pto out of gear.

Sounds like a live, 2-stage clutch pto from the manual description.

Sometimes thick oil will keep them spinning a bit with no load on them.

But, I'd wonder about the pto clutch pak too.....
