I have heard of filling with radiator fluid, but toxic if it leaks out. I have heard of filling with windshield washer fluid. I have also heard of filling with beet juice (or something) I know of somebody who bought a new Kubota tractor a few years back and the dealer filled the rear tires with beet juice. (What about being corrosive to the rims?) What have you guys filled tires with? What about pea gravel?. Rifle off your ideas or known stuff for filling tires other then air pressure.

Cast external weights are preferred and unless it's a 2WD loader tractor. They will be sufficient. If it's a 2WD loader tractor then use cast weights and washer fluid. Where are you located? The cost might be reduced by diluting the washer fluid if -40F protection is not required. Salt water/Calcium Chloride is obsolete technology. And it's just asking for trouble.

The beet juice is marketed as Rimgard. Just as heavy as calcium chloride and freeze point is similar but won't rust metal. Good stuff but costs more than calcium chloride. I used a lot of it in utility tractors with loaders.

Any more I use wipe fluid. Doesn't rust the rims and will not hurt animals. It cost more then CACL but in the long run I think a person comes out ahead because if you do get a hole in the tube you don't have to worry about the rim rusting

We use calcium chloride, and stay on top of any leaks that happen to appear. If the valve stem is starting to leak, replace it. If the tire gets a leak, fix it. It's that simple.

Most people in areas that freeze put in water mixed with calcium cloride {salt water] because it will not freeze, is heavyier that pure water and is cheap. But the down side is it eats the rims if you let a valve stem leak. I use cast iron weights as they are removable and don't make a mess if you have a flat tire like fluids do. I also feel that fluid in tires does not absorb shock and transfers it to the drivtrain of the tractor causing more wear. Had an IH mechanic tell me once 90% of the rear end, final drive overhauls he did on tractors had fluid in their tires.

I fill mine with air. I've heard of filling tires with helium, but that seems rather counter-productive for an ag tractor.

cold weather has to be taken into account in my area ,so most tire guys use calcium.Seems to work well. Some tire manufacturers warranty won't allow for calcium,so they sell their own sollution. Not sure what's in it.pd
