Last year I got so fed up with PF magazine that I did not renew my subscription. They seemed to be totally a "yuppie country living" oriented content--almost nothing for a real working farm/ranch.

Course they kept sending me a free copy. Now they seem to have been acquired by DTN and, unless it is just my imagination, it seems they have more articles for farming and ranching.

Has anyone else noticed this? My other favorite is Successful Farming.

What does the PF stand for? Popular Farming, Pickle Farming, Polish Farming, Painful Farming?

I received an offer for a cut rate subscription and took it. My latest issue had an article about raising weeds to make a twenty acre park! Never subscribe again.

Used to read cover to cover and save to read again maybe on a snowy day. Now can"t stand to open one up. Lost their focus. Or more money from those wanting to reach those with lots of spendable income.

I have a bunch of old Country Gentleman mags from the 30's, 40's 50's. Give me them or a mag like them any day over the modern stuff. The info may be old, but the quality is better, the tractors and implements are the stuff I'm still using and they had great general interest stories. Even the ads were better. Nothing else like them today.

The only good thing I found in it was the results of a poll on how Nebraskans REALLY felt about outsiders (yuppies and citidots) moving in and wanting to take over and change things to their "liking".
Other than that, it is exactly what a wanna bee farmer, or small time gardener would want.

Many years ago,I was a longtime subscriber. One day at work, I picked up a store bought copy of the same month that I had already received. Funny thing was that this store bought magazine had about 20 additional pages and they werent advertising. Goes to prove "If you are lucky, You get what you pay for"
