Well I took it apart and found the bearing was missing a couple balls. Looked for a new bearing but so far no luck in finding the bearing. But I did find a way to fix it. I have also been working on a NH baler and have one for parts. I noticed it had a couple idler pulleys on it but they where to small. So I cut one of them apart and took the bearing from it and put it into this idler for the hay rake and it seems to have worked just fine. I guess I'll know for sure when it stops raining so I can cut hay then will try out this Ford 503 rake and see how it does.

Rich, I've had a couple of those idler pulleys apart and one of them had a very common 6203 bearing in it. The very same bearing that is uded as the front bearing in most alternators and just about all generators so it is readily available at just about any auto parts store. Yours should have a number either syamped or etched into the face of either the inner ring or the face of the outer ring.

Haven't found numbers any place and I have looked for them. These have a sort of half round outer part on the outer bearing race. Sort of looks like a over inflated tire on the out side of it.

That is a bearing used in a flangette housing. Flangettes are the two pieces that go together and allow the bearing to self align. The outer race can gimbel in the flangettes. TSC or any bearing house should have them. They are common.

Good luck.

Were there any numbers on either the inner or outer race?

None that I could find. This bearing has a 2 piece outer race on it and I used my wire wheel on my grinder to clean them up good but no numbers any place on it. Se my reply to Rusty to get a better idea of what it looks like. Maybe I should post a picture in the parts and pieces area

Whatever works. I have a pump jack running where one of the roller bearing has rollers made from nails.
