I have been trying to sell a Farmall M now for about a month. It needs some minor tlc, but has good tires, live hydraulics, good tin, good engine, the 9 speed tranny, etc. I was asking $1000, but all I get are people who want a photo album of M pictures. Boy can some people waste your time. If I go to the ads I see rear tires for $600, live hydraulic pumps for $600, tin for $100, etc. Maybe I should just sell parts?

I have a 71 chevelle, have advertised in newspapers in 2 different states, parked it at a flee market...people call but only 1 out of 10 actually come look at it....at the flee market at least 30 people looked at it and all said "beautiful car" and walked away. I don't know what to say

I would not part it out, especially if it only needs "minor tlc". Yes, those parts can bring a good price, but with live power, a 9 speed, good tin and good tires, it sounds much too good to part out. $1000 is a very good price.

Andy.

Only a month and now you want to part it out. I have had tractors up for sale for a year plus and did sell one this spring. With the price of gas and money being tight all over ya its hard to sell one right now but if you keep posting ads for it sooner or later some one will want it

I do not see it in the photo ads. I see one listed for $1850, that seems reasonable.

$1000 is a very good price.

I am looking for a wide front to make hay and keep the wife happy.

Price sounds right. I wonder why no buyers. It sure would be good stable mate for my H but right now I have a project tractor being assembled.

I would be concerned if parting out then you would still have frame etc to contend with.

Best of luck !

as much as i dislike those wrong red tractors i'd hate to see it parted out. that 9 speed should make it interesting. a friend of mine had one with some kind of a hand clutch and a 9 speed. he used it on a feed wagon and i think to rake hay. oh by the way the right red is cockshutt and or massey harris.

i think momma 'd hit me in the head with a frying pan, i have 3 m's now, and a super m in pieces. with the live pump and the 9 speed, sounds like a real nice tractor at a bargain price. the last m i bought was a 51, had power steering, 9 speed , wide front and a dc welder that drove off the belt pulley. gave 2850.00 for it at an auction. good hard working girl, i added a 3 point hitch. my 48 m was rough as a cob, paid 1600 for it with the loader.

I agree with some of the other posts about trying to sell it all together.

I parted out alot of Deere's years ago and once all the "goodies" are gone you have alot of stuff to still get rid of. Hard to recoup your money,I'd rather just get it in one lump sum. I got started doing this because I used alot of the parts on my own stuff. That saved me a ton of money chaseing and buying parts. Most of the ones I parted had major problems like head and/or blocks broke some were Amish power units. Any that were fairly complete or ran were just resold for a profit with little done to them. I'd do just enough sometimes to get them to run to sell. But you have to watch once you start spending money on them you start losing money too.

I agree with Rusty. I ran a add wanting a hydraulic pump for a 450 diesel. Two or three guy's called wanting 450 for one. About a week later one came up on ebay and guaranteed to be good. I bought it for 125.00 and it was good. Stick with your price. There will be someone come along and buy it. I parted out a B and made a little money on it, but now I have a whole bunch of it in my yard to do something with. It is more aggravation than it is worth.

The prices you see in those parts ads are the asking prices. You might get $600 for the hydraulic pump, but $125 is much more realistic, and I've seen way more good, straight M hoods sell for around $50 than I have for $100, and even if you can sell a few parts for good money, you'll still have a bunch of stuff that won't sell, and when it's all done, you'll still have a dead carcass to haul off. Stick to your asking price and be patient. You are not out of line at all.

You should check e-bay under the ended auctions to see what real selling prices are. Lots of stuff on here is priced way to high and probaly never sells.
