Ya, as mentioned below, you are parcel eligible. That means UPS, FedEx, and the like.

I am from Tewksbury, MA and shipped 800 lbs to Green Bay for around $210. I went with Ross Express headquartered in Penacook, NH. They use pallet rates. That means anything that will fit on a pallet and is under 2000 lbs. 200 lbs goes for the same rate. If you are shipping out of New England, ask for "logistics" to get your cost. Otherwise, speak to the account rep for your area. I think NH has several depending on location. One day shipping to anywhere in New England.

The buyer and myself tried to get a reasonable rate from the "Hauling Schedule" on this site. The prices were rediculous. Mostly around $500.

The shipping companies will ship door-to-door if you let them know that both parties can load and unload. If that is not possible, they will hold the item at the terminal or charge you for a delivery with a power tail-gated truck. It's your option. They will ask if you and the consignee are businesses. Just tell them that both parties have loading equipment. That is all they want to know.

First thing you need to do is get estimates so you can get the best price. A lot of high charges out there but discounts are available if they know you are shopping around. It is hard for a beginner to do it online because you do not know the shipping class it falls under.

Then look for companies that service your area. They may be 2 towns over and 50 miles away but still service your area. Some of the bigger nation wide companies are Roadway; Yellow: UPS (which has now bought out Overnight so they do packages and LTL now); Fedex (who bought out Watkins and American freight so they do both) Estes; ABF; Old Dominion; ect..... .....

Now you will need to know weight; size; and both zip codes. 125 lbs can go as a loose piece and does not really need a pallet. Try to stay away from residential delivery and pickup even if it means you picking up the box at their terminal dock because this adds to the cost

After you decide on a carrier you just tell them to pick it up for you and give them the info. The driver will have a manifest with him that can be hand written on pickup if the shipper does not have any.

There are sites that help you find the best rate. IIRC, there is one called Freightquote (dot)Com..

That is with in UPS limits as far as weight. UPS will ship things up to 150lbs.

Chbeck the local listings in the phone book to make sure you get one that delivers in your area. They will know how to get it from where it is to you.

there should be a listing in your local phone book under trucking but it may be easier to do an online search for LTL carriers, several of them have websites and I think you can fill out a bill of lading on some. seveal carriers that I can think of right off are CWX, ABF, USF Reddaway, and UW freight lines. there are others but its a start.

Another thing with freight is the class. They will move a 125 lbs of rock cheaper than a 125lb glass window due to chances of damaging the product.
