I just bought a Char-Lynn all in one hydraulic pump off eBay ($30). This unit has two control levers, a PTO coupler, and a relatively large cylinder shaped reservoir all in one package. My plan is to take the belt pulley, which I don't use off my B Farmall and run the Char-Lynn pump off that shaft. I'd still like to do live hydraulics sometime, but this seemed like a pretty quick inexpensive way to add hydraulics for now, anyway, I found a description of this type of pump in an old ad online that indicated these actually have two interior pumps. I'd appreciate any information anyone has about these. Manuals, fluid capacity, GPM rating, etc. thanks,
Scott

my dad used them years ago they work good, one leaver is for double acting cylinder the other is single acting cyl.you used to be able to get
another center ring for more oil capacity also it is for pto 540rpm. i have a farmall m with it mounted above the pto and chain driven, you can get a sprocket with spline the same as pto &it just slides on hope this helpes:

Dad used them for years on Oliver 70s that had loaders on them. They held enough oil to operate loaders that had one way cylinders and rope trip buckets. He had an Oliver 88 without hyd that he made a bracket to mount the pump on and ran it off of the belt pulley with a roller chain. If I remember correctly he did have different size sprockets. Don't know if it was to speed up or slow down the rpms to the pump. He used the belt pulley so that he could use the tractor on a PTO stalk chopper that lifted with a hyd cylinder. To mount the pump he made the bracket using the rear holes in the frame that Olivers had for mounting various implements such as cultivators. They were good pumps for their time and they were tough. The big drawback was that when they were mounted on the PTO you could not use it for anything else.

not sure but I think the belt pulley runs opposite to the PTO shaft direction,if so it will be in the wrong direction for running that pump.

Check the RPM of your belt pulley drive before going too far... I think they turned faster than the 540 that the pump was most likely designed for. Just a heads-up!

On my A I'm thinking there should be a way to mount a live belt drive pump to one side or maybe underneath... possibly might put a shaft drive out front if I can do it neatly... see my pics under "info" on my photobucket site for pics of my current set up.
