i just wanted to say how great a website this is! I wanted to start a new hobby and always admired the antique tractor shows. I just bought my first tractor, a 38 jd A from someone in the classifieds section. i live in sc and bought it from someone in ne. Then i needed it hauled, i posted it on the hauling section and had 5 people interested in the job with in a day. Again, great website for all your needs. The tractor is going to be here sunday night, cantt wait!!!!! !!!

How does that help those that make like 12 dollars and hour or less, and pay no taxes? Better to fly over with a heliocopter and drop money.

OH! good God another Ugly Green thing. Giggle. Hey Dan welcome to the best tractor site on the net we have fun now and then but we do a lot to help each other with their tractors. We do tease now and then about the color of your tractor but its all in fun we all love old tractors no matter what make. model or Color. I you want help posting Pic just ask. Walt ( Flambeau Red Case LA) Oh an a Cockshutt 35 which is going to get its first workout baling hay in many many years. I'd use the LA but at 5 gallons an hour its staying in the barn for awhile.

I hope you enjoy your tractor and more importantly I sure hope you are dealing with one of the very fine and honest people who use this forum and not the few crooked ones.

Very hard to weed them out from cyber space.

Just dont let the few smart a@@es throw you, at one point in their life they didnt know it all like they think they do now.

Get that popper going and enjoy it.

Welcome, glad you are here. Now the next requirement are some photos of your Popper! Make sure to post some in this forum, not just in the JD forum.
Good luck

Welcome to the world of "old iron". This is a hobby which seems to attract good "salt of the earth" type people. Unless the tractor you bought is completely restored you will have a lot of the fun and frustration of working on your tractor and learning about it. But it is worth it. Four of my six tractors came from either nebraska or eastern colorado, mainly from friends or family. I live near Franklin, NC now and am wondering how far you are from this area?

Welcome to the world of antique tractors, get out your wallet and check book! ;^) If you do much reading, pick up some of Roger Welsh's books on restoring tractors, great stories, information and funny as #ell.

Yeah they are in reply to gene bender, 05-30-2007 19:49:57
I saw an old guy one day wrapping a rope around the belt pully/flywheel thing them JDs have. I said Otto, what are you doing? He said watch, listen and learn. He then tied the rope to the back of his pickup. He tightened the rope easily then he floored the peddle. It started that tractor right up. Apparently Otto got tired of spinning that thing with his hands. Thank God us Red tractor guys don't have that problem.
