If you have ever torn a gash in the sidewall of one of those expensive, sometimes almost impossible-to-find-replacement rear tractor tires, then this may be of interest to you. Gemplers Industrial Supply, on the web at www.gemplers.com, has a rubber-putty repair kit,part/item#51, that will fix gaping holes in anything rubber, from boots to tires. I"ve used it on one of my tires that I ripped on a creek-rock, and it worked like a charm! The only requirement on tires, is that you must have at least enough tire cords left to support the fill material for the casing, and allow 48 hours for it to cure before using. Don"t know about you, but for me, it worked great, is just as durable as the original casing, and was a heck of a lot cheaper than a replacement tire!

I seen a tire one tire that had a sidewall hole ripped through the cords large enough to wiggle one's hand through. The owner actually stitched the rip together with stainless wire intended to safety lock nuts etc with on aircraft etc. A boot was placed on the inside of the tire and the tractor was used for years. Miller Tire also sells a two part cold rubber patch gap/gouge/hole filler.
