can anyone help me find out what a 3 ton Treeton Tractor was, and what it looked like please. my dad hit headline news when he was trapped under one in 1951 and i would like to be able to include it in my family history journal.

Typical typo for printers. It should read. "17 year old youth was trapped under a 3 ton Tree on Tractor whilst clearing a field of trees when helping a local farmer"

That might be true but have you ever seen when the news people get things correct. I stopped putting my faith in them when I got into an argument with one who refused to listen to what I was aying and went on to write it his way no matter what was correct.
it is obvious that you will not find out what kind of tractor it was from the news article I would try to locate someone who was there and see what they have to add. It is possible that the tree fell on the tractor trapping him. Walt

many thanks, unfortunatly the ones who might know are no longer alive, but there will be a lead to follow somewhere. as you say it should have read a three ton tractor, i do know it was his fault it overturned he was a bit adventurous and it was on a hillside, a young lad saw it roll over, the tree did not fall on him.

I agree they are right on this. The "3 ton" and trees and tractor became interposed. It was most likely a small crawler as mentioned. Cletrac AG some IH and others weighed right around 6k+ lbs.

Sounds like a worded explanation of '3 ton' as 'treeton' with the h left out.
