I have some steel wheeled tractors that I have made steel parade belts for the wheels and I am getting ready to attach some rubber belting material. I use elevator bolts to attach the rubber belting to the steel rims but I need a real good glue also. Any advice or suggestions on the type of adhesive to use would be appreciated.

3M 5200 Marine Sealant is a polyurethane adhesive that I've used for a number of different applications. if you wire brush the steel, it will stick very well.

Similar products are made by the Sika company. One of those might be a better choice, but I have no experience with them.

3M 5200 and Sikaflex are available at most marine hardware stores or from Jamestown Distributors.

Gooday mate - Tractor Hank . Keith-OR is sure on the right track . I spent over 40 years in the Plastics & Adhesives business with some 30 shops scattered around Australia & South-east Asia . My suggestion is somewhat like Keith's . Go to or get in touch with your largest Plastics or Adhesives manufacturer or Wholesaler and do your research on Urethane ( short for Polyurethane ) elastomer glues preferably a two ( 2 ) part glue . We did many wheels like you're discribing for a large commercial tourist organization . They are very tricky to do & get it right the first time . Do remember like all jobs 95 % PLUS of the success of the job is in the preperation . Adsolute total chemical cleanliness is an absolute must . Good luck & get back to me if I can possibly be of any assistance . jamesaviculture@hotmail.com

Go to your local auto paint store and gets some windshield urethane if they don't have any try your auto glass shop.

Be sure to get yourself some surgical gloves, as if you get any urethane on your hands you will have to wear it off!!!
