I'm not the "what goes?" Why would I stir up sh*t when I depend on this site to answer questions I have? IP as far as I know is internet provider address. H*ll, There's tons of people out there with the same internet provider.

It doesn't matter to me if you take my word or not. I'll keep on askin' questions, if you guys answer them then you do, if not, oh well, I'll find out somewhere else. Doug

Hi Doug -

I apologize for implying it was you! I was just very curious as to why he posted his message and looked back through some prior postings. I saw you had posted under the same IP address and thought it might be you - but honestly, it didn't sound like you were perturbed in prior posts and it seemed like you got plenty of answers.

An IP address is unique to a given PC and/or network router, so at first glance it appeared all the messages came from one location.

But, in checking a little further, that IP address is an AOL proxy server. I don't know how AOL routes all their network traffic, but in general a proxy server can act as a gateway for many users and "hide" them behind a single IP.

That is probably why multiple posters show up under that address.

Sorry for the trouble - I just thought I'd try to better answer whatever question the fellow had and found that address...

I guess if he really wants more info, he can post again and give the board a second shot...

Howard

Appreciate your honesty. I don't post much, but have been reading this site since 2000. Was feeling bored, and blue this AM, because it's 68', cloudy, cold and wife was working. That WAS until I read the really long thread on P.2!! Made my whole day--thought that I had just been to a townhall meeting! LOL. Overall, I thing that this site is mostly made up of Good People, who are willing to help their neighbor. Keep turning those wrenches...

Best Regards, Matt

Hi guys. Thanks, I was hoping not to be blamed for anything I didn't do. I hate to say it, but it seems there's more and more troublemakers on this site every day. I enjoy this site quite a bit, especialy the pics. I have this disease that has something to do with liking all tractors. I think it's called multipletractoritis.

I wouldn"t worry about it. Those that have time to be worrying checking IP addresses and all that need to get off their duffs and get a life.

If you have dial up your IP address will change every time that you sign on.
If you have DSL or SAT it should stay the same but you know how that it is with computer stuff.

My own IP shows up with 4 different numbers sometimes. It is also the same as others at times. I don't know why folks keep suggesting this. I have never posted with any computer besides this one, and mine is different sometimes during the same thread. No problem as far as I'm concerned

In the course of my lurking around here, I have seen other cases where the IP address shows up the same for two entirely different people. For what it"s worth, I have no reason, to think poorly of you.

It"s sorta funny that we don"t trust computers in our cars, trucks, and tractors, but yet we"ll trust em enough to "hang" somebody without a second thought.

Take it easy - Peabo

Most of us figured that out. Those who know don't hold anything against you. Those that don't know, don't matter in the grand scheme of things.
