I haven't been on this forum for very long, but I've noticed I'ts the same here as everywhere else. If you're not with the IN-crowd, you get few or no responses to your post. The tractor talk forum is worse than those snoty John deere guys!!!

Maybe your questions are to tough. My questions are usually answered quickly. I usually wait a while
to see if someone more knowledgeable than I answers
before I put my foot in my mouth. One other thing
almost any question has already been answered Just check the archives.

I've tried to answer most all questions to my best ability..I enjoy helping others in their quest to get their "Iron " running again..Sometimes there's a question that no matter how hard I try to jolt the cobwebs loose , I can't come up with the right fix..Sometimes getting older isn't necessarily a good thing..I've been out of the current information hi-way because of not working at a dealership anymore [for more than a decade]..I still enjoy working on equipment after hours and weekends..My wife says " Why don't you start up your own repair website and get paid for your knowledge"??? Nope , It's just not me.. Guess you'll have to put up with a feeble old mans rantings..No Charge...

I will not so much as look at any of your posts because it makes no differance if you are a trouble maker or not. Simply put many times we all mispeak, or our wording is incorect to make perfect sence to others. Many times I have answered questions and a few days later I have found myself totaly off topic because I did not read the question correctly. If I must make a excuse for myself it is a lack of sleep and time. These all relate to my problems.

There are many times myself I could make a mean spirited comment, but choose to ignore statments because a argument takes two, and most arguments make as much sence as going to the tavern to make everyone there aware of how smart I am. As history shows seldom is there a actual winner.

Many folks have time on there hands as I do some days or evenings, other times not so much. I have been aware of many post that in the subject line you see no subject other than I got a problem, What is wrong, and a whole lot of other posts that you have to open up to read, and figure out what there question is. Many times I feel those only get comments from folks with to much time on there hands. The folks who know may well overlook a question because they do not take the time to read them. I think it would be great if there was a couple of lines in the subject line to remind us that we comunicate in real life with more than one word or two after we reach the age of two. Not trying to provoke you but like your post I"ve noticed something perhaps is overlooked unless you state what in general you noticed in the subject line. As in society if you open up a conversation with a slam, you probably will get jumped on and folks form a opinion of you. maybe not always fair in our thinking. I'm personaly never smart enough to remember any of the crap that goes on because I simply do not care enough unless a bulley is making crap of a less fortunate underdog. I have personaly found all the YT boards to be very friendly and extreemly helpful. I do however reread my post before I send them off so I make sure to the best of my ability that I do not offend.

I kind of think that most of the folks on these boards are older generation minded, many have helped others there full life with only the words thank you for payment. And for the most part unless you are representing the government or have the word expert on your shirt pocket they are very friendly, and seldom offensive. I kind of think most of the folks here try to understand downfalls of others, and probably can get the message if they reread the post a few times. Like my posts, many lack puncuation and spelling. There have been a few times when you know that the post comes from a person who has disabilities more than our own, and usualy for the most part no one makes crap of them, however it has happened.

When a person cuts apart another fellow, it usualy tends to try to make ourselves look important. Many of us have out grown that attatude from the school of hard knocks, and the blessing of gray hair.

So therefore maybe just give them that offend you another chance, and perhaps maybe they are just the type that enjoys a good argument, but that is only a small few that talk that talk, the rest of the folks here on YT are pretty good eggs.

Again I hope i did not offend you or anyone else, fighting in any organization is a cancer that spreads fast. Good luck on future questions.

After thinking about it a bit, I think that boards, such as this one, are no different than any other social interaction.. Go into any small town, stop at the tavern, gas station, country store, etc.. and you will be treated the same way as you treat the people you meet. Sure, on the first visit, folks ain't gonna be slapping you on the back, but they will treat you with the same respect that you show them.. The main reason that I frequent this site is the fact that that most of the folks that post here are like the ones I knew, when I was growing up.. Good country folks are a rare commodity these days, and it seems that a lot of them gravitate to this site..

Well I'm just guessing here but I believe the reson is, and remember I'm just guessing now, YOUR AN I D I O T you keep using the same computer to respond to YOURSELF. Maybe you're not smart enough to realize that the IP address is always there.

But we can write the IP address down and remember it and make SURE we never respond again.

OK.

There is enough combined knowledge on this forum to build a neucular bomb. Don't know if I spelled it right! I respect everyones opinion and I have been helped many times. The problem I thank a lot of people have is that many times you never hear from the person you tried to help. No thanks, and we gain no knowledge. I have found this to be true on many forums.

Andy, according to what I have been told there is a possiablity that all of these could be the same person, or not.

Due to someone on the Farmall board claiming that a friend's post had the same IP address as someone else that was staring crap, I went and talked to my ISP guy about this issue. I even logged onto his store computer, and showed him what I was talking about.

He just laughed out loud, and asked if I ever posted on this site? I said sure I do, not everyday as some but I do answer or get into a conversation sometimes. He replyed, "go ahead answer someone's question and I will show you something about an IP address".

I answered a persons question on this site, and then my ISP guy wrote down the IP address from my answer posted from his store.

He then asked me if I knew if John Doe, Jane Doe, etc. posted on this site as well, as they were some of his customers that he knew had old tractors. I told him of one that I knew for sure posted on this site. He looked up a post made by that person and wrote down the IP address.

He then looked up one of my post made from my home and wrote down that IP address as well.

When he showed me the paper all three had the same IP address on them. I told him that I did not belive this. So he went back to all of the answers and I wrote the numbers down myself. He asked me if his numbers matched mine, and they all three did match.

So I asked him how or why this could be? His reply was, "All three of us are using the same server when we reply. The ISP server does not provide an actual computer's address. In order to find out where the replys came from most ISP can filter or use a tracking method that can find out who's computer made them if they needed to".

I am not a computer wiz in any way, heck my 6 year old knows more about them than I do.

I don't know, if all of these are the replys are from the same person or not. I am only relaying what I was told.

For the person that started this I can only say, "Everyone at this site has always been very helpful to me, and a lot of others as well. Yea sometimes someone will come along and try to stirr the pot or whatever". Take this for what it' worth, "Treat people as you like to be treated, and they usually will treat you in the same manner"!

Once again, "Thanks to everyone at this great site, keep up the good work"!!!

Well I don't post threads or respond to threads very often, but have been lurking on the ytmag site since sometime in 1999. As far as friends go, not sure I've made any or very many and too my knowledge I haven't made any enemies except for some guy in New Mexico named Jim that was torqued off because the handle I was using seemed to be too much like his and he had been on here using his for quite awhile. I do enjoy this site and if there is something that is annoying I don't read it all because there are other things more important than letting a posting irritate me too much. If a person responds to a posting I make that's fine, and if they don't that's fine too. Belive it or not I have located two people that I have known or worked with over numerous years and not seen or heard from that I now have an email and phone number for, along with a good contact that I am trying to do some business with. So as far as cliques and etc. Sure maybe there is, but it shouldn't be something that anyone should get too concerned about. Jim

It's apparent you're trying to stir something up with the locals here. Could be you had a bad day or have no friends or no tractor. I suggest if you don't like what's going on here just stay off the board period. Many topics do come along here requiring knowledge from all areas. You can also try the oaty board,I think you would fit right in there, and ask for Boseman.

I"ve always found this board friendly and curious enough. Granted it has it"s little circles. I have mine, though not here. Three/four/five guys can often hit the right button on somebody else and the may lay is on. The digs and comebacks are given and received well. Me, I"ve my friends I pick on as they pick on me. I like it. Another thing, common interests often play in relationships, as well as the most uncommon. I must admit in my own case senility has started setting in, My mind has slowen, my responses taken longer than the more youthful quick witted. These are my excuses I’m sticking by.
And, if nothing else, I enjoy looking in here for the good natured razing that goes on between the varied participants be they appear as close associations or clicks or neighbors or practiced dummies. LMAO
OR, some of us pour our hearts out else where.

I have todate only two questions and two replys under my belt here, and those were under the garden tractors, with one question answered and one not. I think that the one that wasn"t answered was just due to the fact, nobody reading that post knew the answer, and it just got pushed down the line. I don"t think it was that they didn"t know me, so I tried again, and got my answer. I will also agree with the others about it being a very busy time, farmers around here still have some acreage to plant, and alot of the farmers do their own spraying around here, instead of paying the co-op to do it.

I haven't ever really been in the "in-crowd", but I'm happy with the friends I have - in-person and online. But that doesn't affect when I post or not.

I usually only answer if I have firsthand knowledge of the topic.

A lot of times I see answers I either THINK are wrong or KNOW are wrong, but I'm not interested in wasting time in a flame war.

Usually, if you post a clear question with enough info to go on, you'll always get an answer or two. Not everyone is going to have an answer and those that do are less likely to waste time answering if it is not clear what the questioner is asking.

Don't give up, yet...

I was just trying to be funny. I really don't have that much hair on my butt! I am pretty bald though. My brother says I look like Uncle Fester. And sometimes being foolish is fun. Lighten up and try it sometime.

As far as the unanswered posts here, perhaps no one that knows the answer, has read the post yet.. After all, this is a busy time of the year for the ones that are farmers.. As a rule, I think the folks here go the extra mile to try to help others.. There also are people that post questions that are not clear, so they never get an answer..

What do you need help with? I may not be able to help, but I can make up something to tell you. As for few replies once it is answered there is no need for duplicate answers. You better believe if someone gives bad advice he or she will be checked by others. It is unrealistic to think that every question can be answered. Some questions I have noticed lately have been ask several times about the same subject by the same person some times. It is usually answered anyhow. Some folks ask the same question on two or three forums at the same time, if it wasn't addressed on one maybe it was on another. Myself I have answered the numerous questions about paint codes for Farmall rims lately, it has been ask 10 times in the last week or two.. It is the same answer every time no code, galvinized.

What goes, sorry you feel the way you do. I'm one of the few to use my given name. I've been a tractor exhaust manufacturer for a lot of years and no doubt talked to many on this board and in person. There are a few that are snooty, but like the cheerleaders and jock straps in school, I just ignored them. The one's here I do the same. I get beat up often, but I also learn alot and every so often I may have something to add that somebody finds of value or amusement anyway. So if you feel like the redheaded stepchild, suck it in, I was raised one so to be treated like one is a day at the office.

Actually the pictured muffler is for a Farmall M or H. I also make the H muffler that is identical except it's the oddball muffler that has the 1 3/4" outside diameter outlet tube.

Maybe because of the way this forum is. People laughin' and makin' fun cause some guy can't get his tractor running right, cause he's not sure of what he's doing. That is what this forum is for, to get information, not get laughed at!

Did it ever occur to you that it's the weekend, and it's busy season for some folks too? MAYBE there's no one available with a good solid answer to some questions posted. I doubt seriously there's 10,000 people looking in on what's posted in the last 24 hours. So does the fact that no one has a good answer for a few questions indicate that we're all a bunch of a$$'s? Is that how you see things? If that's your opinion good chance you won't get too far on this site, or any OTHER site. Peoples reaction to how YOU act might not be to your liking, but it's not OUR fault if you put people off. I tried to give you a decent answer, but that was a waste of my time. You don't want a decent answer. You want to insult everyone.

This site has a few cliques, especially so on a couple forums. But you need to realize that there is no automatic "respect" given or recieved here. That's earned over time. This place is like a big family sometimes too. You have to TALK REAL LOUD to be noticed at times when you're "little brother".

Once people get to know they can count on you for accurate information, they'll start warming up to you. In the case of questions, consider the fact that there aren't too many subjects that haven't been gone over 1000 times. Sometimes the more common questions just get BORING to most. People figure they'll just let someone else field the "how big of a mower will my 8N run?" question that they've already answered 300 times themselves.

Keep on trying. I posted here a few times myself before anyone bothered to reply.

A lack of response has a lot to do with the question or comment. Sometimes the people that have the answer, or maybe would comment to a particular topic just are not on the board for the period of time your post is in the first couple pages to be noticed. For example, there are times I don't have time to look at YT for a couple weeks. Ya, I do suffer from severe withdrawal when that happens... Wayne
