Electrical Issue. I put a new battery in and drive it for 5 minutes and shut off. The battery is totally dead and cannot start tractor. I feel I have check everything. I feel it is a dead short, bad push button starter switch, and maybe the condenser??? What could drain a battery that quick. I have tried numerous batteris and it does it everytime??? I cannot jump off another vehicle either.

Assuming only a 50 amp.hour(?) battery to 70%. that means a current drain of lets see....about 180 amps. Should be easy to find where all that heat (over 2kW) is going, even if only for 5 minutes. If battery is bigger than that and/or discharge is to lower than 70%, siuation is even worse. You should have a huge flash when you connect the battery, let alone anything else. Sooo... are you sure the battery is dead and it"s not just a bad connection heating up and sending starter circuit effectively open circuit? RAB

Does this have an internal or external regulator and has it been checked lately? You may want to check the regulator or if it has an alternator have it checked first.

With all electrical requirments OFF ( lights Ignition ETC) hook up battery Negative cable , and then take a test light between Positive Battery Clamp and Positive Battery Post. If the light lights , you have a short . Now trace how far down the system the short is , and repair it .

Have you got the battery in backwards?

Allan
