I have a 42" GT mower deck on this tractor. It clogs WAY too easily. Are there any special blades or a different deck which can be utilized?

Also, I have looked at literature on the 44" and 50" decks on older cubs (IH manaufactured?). Will these decks fit my Model 1440?

Thanks, David

Couple things here. 1st--get that deck off and clean it up so that grass is not sticking to existing old rotted clumps. 2nd--adjust your mowing style. Either mow more often (not such high grass), at a taller height, higher rpm/lower gear, or don't mow when the grass is wet.

I tied the plastic deflector up with a bungee cord on mine. Made a big difference, but you have to be careful because anything the blade picks up will fly out the side chute. Make sure nobody is in the yard while you mow.

Making sure that the grass is completely dry before you mow will help too.

I have a 44" deck on mine and it works fine. It will clog if the grass is real long (easier than my other mower will).
