Your Queen Elizibeth was here over the weekend! She visited nearby Lexington Kentucky. She stayed the first night at Robert Farrish's "Lanes End Farms". Farrish was once the U.S. Ambassador to England. Then went to see the 133 running of the Kentucky Derby just up the road in Louisville at Churchill Downs. According to the TV news people, she brought along 22,000 lbs of luggage, along with 75 hats for the occasion. I hear she's quite the horse expert too. I hope she enjoyed herself and left with a good impression of the Bluegrass State.

Hi Gang;
Over here Queen Elizabeth has been a good figure head for England. I personally respect her and what she has done during her reign, though many people around the World are anti-Monarchy. The Royal family are a tradition in England, though most other Countries no longer have their own monarch now. I am old enough to have respect for everyone's views and dont argue with anyone. Freedom and good health are the most important things in life.
I admire anyone who does good deeds and who doesnt harm anyone else. For many people the Queen has been a "good person" and deserves the respect & love that she recieves from millions of people in Countries the World over.
Cheers David

David, my impression of Queen Elizibeth is much like my opinion of the Britsh people as a whole, and very much the same as you described her. Good natured, interested in the greater good of her country, her subjects, and the world in general. She has a lot of class and dignity. Those are qualities that we NEED and should aspire to. It may well have cost the state of Kentucky a few dollars to have her here, but it wasn't wasted.

We did escape a near faux pas when Governor Ernie Fletcher ALMOST forgot her name when presenting the Derby trophy to the winning owner. He said, "the Queen....ah....Elizibeth...er...of England..... " A million or so of us Kentuckians held our collective breath for a few seconds on that one!

I wasn't trying to belittle the Queen, I was just wondering why the facsination here. When Princess Diana died thousands of people here held vidules(not sure of spelling) and weeped for days.

TV says she is 81 and had picture of her riding. Says she rides most weeks. She gets around real good for 81. I'm betting she makes the 100.

No offense to the British people, but why are Americans so fascinated with the Royal Family?

With no offense, its like going to a museium and looking at the old knight's armor and old cannons. We don't even have to pay tupense to see. Sorry David, my family (pierce) go back a long way there. Think we were on the loosing side once. Now the new kids, I have great hope there.
