Yesterday I replaced the pto clutch in my 8000. After I got it all back together. The 3 point, pto clutch, dual power etc. would not work. I thought I had lost my prime to the pump. Does anyone know how to prime it? I tried taking the filter off and dumping oil into pump, tried jacking one side of tractor up so more oil would flow to pump. I even tore the who this apart thinking I might of ruined the o-ring in the hydraulic pump that the suction hose connects too. I also packed some grease in the pump to help it prime. I got the arms to lift a little but it isn"t getting better. Anyone have any suggestions? Easy way to prime pump?? Could something else gone wrong?

Ty,Does the tractor have a flow control rod coming up through the quadrant panel on the right side of the seat.If it does make sure it is connected and is pushed into the down position. Also does the PTO run and stop as it should now?.

Yes the tractor does have a flow control and I tried moving it up and down. Didn't make a difference. The second time I put it back together the pto would spin and the 3 point would slowly move up but you could push it back down with your hands. I thought the pump must of lost its prime or there was air in the lines but it never got better. To make a long story short. I torn it back apart for the 3 rd time, loaded the hydraulic pump with gease, manualy poured hyd. oil throught the pipe into the filter put it back together and it worked. Not sure what really made the difference. Talked to mechanic and he said to connect a hose to the rear remote lines and let it flow into the fill port in back to releave air in line. Not sure it really did anything. Pump runs constantly anyways. Does anybody have any ideas to what the problem really was. I'm still wondering what really fixed. Taking clutch out throught the side cover is easy and I can now take out and install in 1.5 hrs. Not sure why others said it was harder than splitting the tractor in half.
