Would 18.4 x 38 tires fit very well on an old tractor that currently has 14.9 x 38's on it??

I've got a set of 8 18.4's that still are decent tires that I'd like to re-use, if they would fit OK and wouldn't look too big...

Thanks for any advice,
Howard

The 18.4-38 tires needs a 16 inch rim. A 14.9 uses a 12 inch rim. It is also 69 inch diameter while a 14.9 is 63.5 inch. You will have to drop at least on gear for everything you do.

My Massey Harris 44 has 15.4 X 38s on it the guy cut the rims and added a 4 in. piece from another old rim to widen them. It looks pretty good.

yeah go ahead and do it. Will be added stress on side walls being pulled in on narrow rim but so what. Might look a little odd but who cares.

They would go on the rims but they are quite a bit bigger tire. 4 inches wider, 2 on each side of the rim and several inches taller. But would they look too big? Well looks are in the eye of the beholder, just ask my wife.

You would need a MINIMUM of a 14" rim.
