I know this question is way out of left field and way off topic, but my new dobro is on it's way and I thought I'd ask here. Email's open. Thanks folks.

Yes, I play Guitar With a Small Group, All Acoustic, We Play Bluegrass And Country/Gospel, Have An 85 Year Old Fiddle Player Who Has About 3 Hours Of Songs In His Head Anytime, We Also Play Lots Of Old Civil War Tunes & Waltzes. I Belong To 2 Tractor Clubs & Play At Their Shows Throughout the Year, We Have Church Services At The Shows Where We Play Also. My Wife Says If It's Not A Old Tractor Or Guitar, I'm Not Much Interested. Ha! But I Think She Is Proud when We Play & Sing In Church, She Even Organizes Our Jam Sessions We Have In Our Church Social Hall.

Nah if I spend as much time practicing as I spend on the computer I'll be a pro in a week haha. I'm not worried though, only your folks might think we're goofy, but they're nice people lol.

in to deep: I'm a bit like Jimmy King, just a good listener, but a hell of a good one, when comes to acustic stringed instruments. Give me a good blue grass band with guitar, banjo and mandelin, plus and I'll hang around as long as you play.

I play a little Bluegrass on my Deering Hartford, but mostly old-time clawhammer-style banjo using a fretless open-back by Bart Reiter.

I play the doghouse bass in local jams and am also playing in a band that does a few gigs now and then. A bunch of us are starting a weekly jam on Monday nights at a senior living residential community where we can jam and entertain folks at the same time. There are also local jams on Wednesday nights, two different ones on Saturday nights, and soon Thursday nights. My heart is in informal jamming and not really being in bands, as I"ve been in various bands all my life and it just doesn"t thrill me anymore. I don"t like to go to bluegrass festivals with the big name bands either because I"d rather be pickin" acoustically with a group under a tree than sitting all day listening to amplified bands that come over as loud as rock music or country rock, which don"t sound at all bluegrassy to me. Some of the nicest people I"ve met are bluegrass pickers. Never have played guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, or banjo. For some reason, bluegrass music and old tractors seem to go well together.

Yep, they go together TOO well haha. I've got too many hobbies! Old rusty things and shiny things that make pretty sounds catch my attention very well.

Dave I think you are right. The best music at any festival I have been to comes from the parking lot or behind a camper. Folks walk by and join in and before you know it the lot is alive with good music.

I play a little on guitar. Have been trying the mandolin for a couple years. Go to some of the local bluegrass shows and the annual fiddler's convention at Athens University here in north Al.

I'VE been in rock and country bands since i was a teen, really like the sound of a electric guitar, people think it's funny when i come off a good rock riff and go into some Bob Wills, i like it all

I have trouble playing the radio, but love the sound of the electric guitar, fiddle, base fiddle, but the steel guitar is out in a field all by it"s self could listen to it all day and never get tired of it.

I thump around a little. Been trying for 35 years. Still can't play very well. I have a buddy I grew up with( Billy Brinegar) that can play anything with strings, since he was very small. He has played with Bill Monroe several times among others. In the 70s My grandpa, dad, uncle and me built a house for J.D. Crowe. His lead guitar player Rick Wassen lives right up the road a bit. He runs a music store in Clay City KY. Another boy I went to school with Paul Martin is playing lead guitar now for Ricky Scaggs, he use to play with Exile. I have been around a bunch of good musicians, but none of it rubbed off on me. My wifes aunt and uncle help run the Poppy Mountain Music festival in Morehead Ky every September.
