Lou go to your vet and get Panacur you need to give it for 3 days at the rate of 1cc per 5 lbs of body weight per day. For heart worm prevention use Ivermec in the mouth at the rate of 1 to 1.5cc once a month. DO NOT USE IVERMEC IF YOU HAVE A COLLIE OR YOUR DOG HAS ANY COLLIE BLOOD IN IT. I have used this program for over 20 years on hounds and cur dogs.Good luck

Look at the farm store for Ivermectin. It'll kill most anything your dog has. If your dog has heartworm it could kill the dog when the dead worms start to float around it's blood stream. Since you had a blood test your dog doesn't have heartworm.

All the yuppie farm stores around here have 2 dozen different kinds of dog wormer, right there on the shelf where they use to carry spark plugs, oil filters and gasket material.

Lou, can't remember the name of it,but we've used the beef flavored pills from the feed store for years with great results..the dogs love'em,so gettin'em to eat them is no problem. I think they are around $2 each

Will she just sell you the dope? Should only cost $1 and you can squirt it down his throat.

Boy, I tell ya, this "Rape your neighbor" world we live in, just plain riles me at times. :>)

I get all of my stuff at a local farm store. Most vets around here will sell you shots, wormer, etc. too.

Look at her gums. A wormy dog will have white gums.

Get a tube of Strongid paste for horses....about $7.00..... same active ingredient as dog wormer.....run a line out from the tip of your finger to your first knuckle and rub your finger on the roof of the dogs mouth..... (that's what I give my beagles)....I usually do this 3 days in a row..... .you don't say how big the dog is, but a tube of horse paste goes a long...long...way for just a few bucks.....(think about what a horse weighs)..... .

Read the label on the dog wormer....other horse wormers contain the same stuff.....but I have always used strongid paste.....

I've used strongid well over 20 years on many generations of beagles.

....Ivermectin, while good as a heart worm preventative, is not as effective on hook and round worms, and doesn't do much for tape worms..... I've used Ivermectin for ear mites to, with good result....I've injected it....and gave it orally to dogs..... injecting it has a residual effect in that I've noticed it kills fleas and ticks for a day or so after injecting it.....

.1cc per 10lbs of body weight works fine....(1/10th) of 1cc....(vet's formula), but I've gave it at much higher rates and had no problems.....but don't see much benefit from the higher doses.....

Ivermectin is not good for Collies from what I've been told.....

Vets are getting expensive around here..... and I only take my hounds if all else fails.....
